GOOD BLACK ART
Phillip Collins is an art collector, marketer, entrepreneur, and the founder of Good Black Art. Born in Tennessee and based in New York, Phillip brings decades of experience connecting legacy industries with historically excluded communities. His global career spans Asia, Europe, the Middle East, and North America, where he worked with some of the world’s largest organizations to open doors to new ideas in new places. Today, he is channeling that experience into the art industry—reimagining how it works, who it serves, and what is considered collectible—with a vision of a world where everyone lives with art. Good Black Art was born from Phillip’s journey as a first-time art collector, initially intimidated by the complexities of the art world. His search for art that reflected his lived experience, while remaining within his budget, inspired him to create a company dedicated to making art more accessible and tangible.
Headquartered in New York City, Good Black Art’s multi-channel platform fosters deeper connections between people, art, and their environments—expanding how individuals see themselves and their place in the world. The company’s offerings span a wide range of expressions, from original artworks and artist books to limited-edition prints, collectible design objects, and thoughtfully curated merchandise.
In addition to providing access to these works, Good Black Art also offers curatorial, creative, and consulting services. Phillip leverages his background as an international marketer—where he led art, design, lifestyle, and entertainment campaigns for brands like American Express, UBS, Ford, GE, and Disney—to ensure that Good Black Art offers everyone the opportunity to expand their worldview through art, just as he did at the onset of his collecting journey. Phillip holds a Bachelor of Arts in International Marketing and a minor in African-American Studies from Elon University. He serves as a mentor, advisor, and board member for several organizations at the intersection of art, education, entrepreneurship, and social justice.
