KEYNOTE SPEAKER : Changing Brands, Branding Change

Changing Brands, Branding Change is an entertaining sociological, scientific and anthropological overview of why humans mark, brand and change things.

This is what the presentation will cover:

--Why and how early humans began marking and making things

--How religions, nations, sneakers, pharmaceuticals and social movements utilize many of the identical rules of branding

--Why humans avoid change and conflict and mostly hate brand redesigns (at first)

--A brief history of technological innovation and how AI fits into the trajectory of change

Changing Brands, Branding Change takes a deep dive into the influence branding has on our everyday lives and provides an over- arching hypothesis of why, as a species, we continue to make and mark things, in every aspect of our lives.

BREAKOUT SESSION : Visual Storytelling

Effective visual storytelling is a remarkable art form. In this one-day workshop, artist and writer Debbie Millman, will work with a group of students interested in exploring the art of telling a story through a unique combination of images and words. In this workshop, we will investigate the ability stories have to honor the diversity and commonality of our collective human experience.

In this workshop, we will do the following:

--Work to define and refine the basic narrative structure of a story

--Plot the visual arc of a story

--Create the visual language of the story

The workshop will result in the creation of a visual story for each participant.
