KEYNOTE SPEAKER : 10 Year Plan
In 2005, Debbie Millman took a class with Milton Glaser, who gave a life-changing assignment: write an essay envisioning your life five years into the future, assuming certain success. Debbie Millman wrote her essay in a journal, and over the next four years, many of her dreams and goals began to manifest. With Milton’s approval, Debbie now teaches this exercise and increased the timeline from five years to 10 to give people more runway and because she believes anything worthwhile takes time. In this workshop, she will encourage each person to re-envision and reimagine their lives and write their 10-Year Plan.

BREAKOUT SESSION : Visual Storytelling
Effective visual storytelling is a remarkable art form. In this one-day workshop, artist and writer Debbie Millman, will work with a group of students interested in exploring the art of telling a story through a unique combination of images and words. In this workshop, we will investigate the ability stories have to honor the diversity and commonality of our collective human experience.
In this workshop, we will do the following:
--Work to define and refine the basic narrative structure of a story
--Plot the visual arc of a story
--Create the visual language of the story
The workshop will result in the creation of a visual story for each participant.
